I just closed the thing back up after having opened it and removed the battery cable. Now I'm trying to create a bootable partition on SSD to try to install Windows in UEFI mode from that. You can do it by holding the Shift key while clicking the Power > Restart links on the login screen or the Start Menu (left or right click selection), and then If none of that works, or if the issue repeats, you have a bad motherboard.
